Fuel Mileage for 1310 miles

Just completed a fairly short shakedown run. Maine to the Outer Banks of NC via Delaware beaches, eastern shore of Maryland and Virginia. Return via US 17 to Front Royal then I 81 to I 84 thence MA, NH and finally Maine. Average over two fillups at 9.2 MPG. Had a lot of stop and go driving through DE, MD and VA. Running 60-65 MPH.
I think I'm learning the engine and transmission quirks.I had expected to achieve at least 10MPG. But then again the learning curve hasn't leveled off yet.

Info for Northeast drivers:
the toll booth on I 87 in Suffern, NY (just beyond the Garden State Parkway heading north) is now $13 with five axles. Was $8 last year.
Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel was $35.  I didn't figure that was too much at a little over a $1/mile.
