Have any of the members tried this.
I have several 18 volt ryobi batteries that are dead.
Yes there are a cheap tool but i like them and made my money back several times over.
If this works just might add life to old batteries

Lonnie, don't count ryobi out yet, I've had good luck with their tools but remember they have several grades of tools like most other companies you can get anywhere from homeowner grade to commercial quality, my cabinet saw is ryobi and has been in continuous use for around 25 years now and isn't showing any signs of slowing down yet.

It's a valid method of reviving NiCd batteries. I've done it for years.  Don't let them get any hotter than you can hold, and yes there is a danger of "boom" but I never had any do it.
And it works surprisingly well!
