can you add/move roof air controls to different location

I'd like to put a second set/move the controls for my forward roof air so that I can run it if I am by myself while I am driving.  Is this possible?  Thanks!

ON-OFF and fan speed would be simple.  The temp is sometimes hooked to a thermo and connected by a tube.  Good luck on that one if that is what you have.  None of the AC are the same, it would seem, even if made by the same mfr.

Post the make and model of your unit and some can look up the schematic and parts location drawings.

I took a couple of coleman roof tops and moved the controls out of the unit but as noted the capillary tube limits how far you can go.

Also as noted a simple on off switch connected to the power ( use a three way set up ) would allow you to turn it on or off from either location.

We have three standard, off-the-shelf Dometic Penguin 13,500 BTU/hr roof airs.  I did not want to mess with remote control panels that were manufacturer-specific, so I could change models later if I wanted, nor did I want anything other than a fully self-contained package unit.

To effect house-type control for the roof airs, and also to avoid having the fan running when the compressor was not, I operate all three units via a set of three relays with 24 vdc coils.  The relays, in turn, are operated by two standard household HVAC thermostats, one in the salon and one in the bedroom.  The same thermostats control the heating, whether electric or Webasto.  Naturally, these are electronic thermostats with thermocouples, rather than mercury-bulb switches, which are not suitable for a moving vehicle.

One feature of the thermostats is that they enforce a 5-minute time-out before restarting an A/C.  This takes care of any concern that the unit will try to re-start against too much head pressure.

You could do something similar, with the thermostat at the driver's reach.
