We went on a little Road trip and had a good time.  But the old girl (the coach, not the wife) ran a little hot. 195-200+ deg. Normally the 4104 runs 180-190.
At each rest area I would check for leaks and add coolant. No visible leaks, no puddles, and no extra oil. At about the 500 mi. mark I finally got  a small puddle of coolant under the front. I shut off the valves to the front heater core, lost no more coolant and had no more temp problems. In my spare tire compartment was about 2 gal. of coolant.     I wonder what coolant does to tires.
The problem was htr.hoses. Steel braided htr.hoses. And they were installed with what I believe was Permatex. What a nightmare. Cutting the braid but not the brass. Then dressing the surface so the new hoses seal.
The total coolant loss was 5 gal. I don't think the temp was over 205. We're hoping it wasn't enough to hurt the 671.

Now see if you owned one of those new million dollar buses you would be missing all the fun.  :)

I don't think it would hurt a tire. Tires are rubber, heater hoses are rubber.  Jack
