Hi yo silver

Marilyn and I are planning to head from Roanoke to Northern VA, near D.C. the 31st.  After a five day stay at Pohink Bay Regional Park we'll go on to Gettysburg for a week.  Any nutz in the area?

I'm a nutz, but live way out West in SW Oregon.  But I was born in Biglick and raised in L.A..  Way back in 1982 we spent two weeks at Gettysburg.  Can't remember the private campground, but it was very nice, clean, green and shady.

Walked most of the routes taken by both sides way back in 1863.  If you are a US history buff like me, you will understand.  Pickett's was last. The daily thunderstorms helped as we were there in early July, like the battle.  HB of CJ

Hi yo silver

Frank, I have sent you a PM.  Charles, I plan to take the toad up to Hershey and spend a day during the Spring event.  I visited the Bus Museum last year, as well as the rose gardens at Hershey Park, etc.  We enjoyed them both.  Thanks for all the info!

Hi yo silver

H.B.,
I'm looking forward to availing myself to one of the battleground tours, self-guided or otherwise.  I've visited the wax museum, and some other attractions, but not a tour.  I think it will be worthwhile.  Born in Big Lick, now there's a claim to fame!

I visited Gettysburg Battlefields (again) last Spring. It was about two weeks after they opened their new Visitor's Center. The new center is very nice, and they have some excellent videos as you stroll from room to room. Unfortunately, they no longer have the big table with the lighted map showing the battle movements.

If you own/use an iPod or other MP3 player, be aware that there are free battlefield tours that you can download from the internet and listen to as you walk around.

If you decide to head a bit further east, like the Valley Forge area, give me a shout.
If you're going to be dumb, you gotta be tough.
