A New Part

I had the best day ever working on the bus, one I will remember. I actually pulled a new part out of a MCI bag and fit it to the bus, it is the rear window seal that fits in the outside channel of the glass frame. For a mere thirty dollars the idiot PO's could have prevented acres of corrossion. It only took thirty minutes to install and water has entered for last time while I own the bus. Funny thing is it is the same rubber section used on the side window sashes also. I can have another blissfull experience.

You all must understand my bus is 44 years old and for the last twenty or so it has been maintained by Curly Larry and Moe. Instead of replacing a seal the answer was to apply silicone. I think they had a 55 gallon drum of the stuff with a air operated application gun. I have silicone gargoyles hanging from the front of the bus. My bus scares children when it drives by. When I can install a seal out of an MCI box it's a good day.

The PO of my bus went one better, he siliconed the swing-out emergency window so they now can't be opened for emergency use or for window repair.

I guess that if I ever have a broken window I'll have to hack out the window piece by piece. Fortunately I have some spare windows. It is impossible to access the silicone with a wire like used for newer windshield removal.

It must be nice to have a newer bus, mine is 55 years old!!
