Mike can you post the unit model number.

On your remote do you have a source for HDTV tuning for your channel selection.   Most menu now have many options to pick your over the air broadcast.   Analog and digital.

ZeroClearance, the model I have is Sony VPL-VW60 I got it today supposed to be the lastest out. My remote menu has no Analog setting that must mean the unit is digital or HD only if it is that would be my problem right   thanks and have a great evening

Like most front projection units, the Sony VPL-VW60 does not have a built in tuner. You must rely on some other piece of equipment to "tune in" the broadcast signals and then provide the video and audio signals to the projection unit.  Basically, you have to rely on some other device to tune into the channel you want to watch, and then that device has to pass the video signal to the projector.

Some, but not all, satellite receivers have the ability to handle an over-the-air (OTA) input from a conventional antenna, in addition to their satellite reception.  If your satellite unit does, then that is where the antenna connects, and you have to focus your attention on getting those settings correct.

Contrary to what you may have been told, I doubt you will be using the Blu-Ray player for your tuner. A Blu-Ray player has one function, and that is to play disks. If you have a Blu-Ray unit that can record programs (which is very rare), it might have a tuner, but 99% of the Blu-ray units only do playback.

One other detail you are going to face is the analog versus digital transition for over the air broadcasts.  For a few more months analog TV signals are still available in most areas. Take an old cheap VCR that you shoved in your basement because it eats tapes, and use it's built in tuner to test.  The problem is it probably only has an analog tuner, so it won't handle the digital broadcasts mandated for 2009.

There are some cheap (<$50) boxes that act as digital tuners and convert the output to something analog TVs can handle.  Anybody know of one of these models that has HDMI or component outputs in addition to Channel3/4 analog feed?  That might be what he needs.

Hope this is a start at answering your questions, let me know what holes still need to be filled in.
If you're going to be dumb, you gotta be tough.

Mike,  the Sony unit is very good.   The market is always changing, it's tough to keep up with the latest hardware.  Basically you need input our HD inputs.   You do not have a internal HDTV tuner.    If you don't have a BluRay player yet,  buying a Sony PS3 gaming console will get you DVD player and BluRay for under $400.00  the benifit is a great gaming console for the children.

The Sony has a very good built in scaler which will scale your raw input whether it is Dish or Direct TV, or standard DVD disk.

I am still in the dark ages with 9" CRT on a 10' screen (awesome picture).    It will be interesting to see your review of it when running in your bus.   The new HDMI inputs are very nice and less bulky.

On a OT note,  you wrote a few weeks ago that you reflashed your ECU to 600HP then back to 550HP..   Do you have a 14 liter?

I have a '03 rated at 500HP,  I just picked up a new 3K K31 turbocharger.   The billet compressor wheel is more efficient,  I'm debating to reflash the ECU to 550HP..   What are your thoughts?

Zeroclearance; I solved my tuning dilemma both sources have to be on one tuner I had one to the satellite receiver and one too the Blu-Ray my Blu-ray does have a tuner. Now I have one more bump the cabinet is 151/2 inches deep and the Sony projector is 19 in so I am going back to the Panasonic  I really wanted the automatic screen feature on the Sony plus the others features it had.I will ask before I do another project on TVs as for the screen I should have went with a larger screen also, live and learn but man does it cost.

On the OT go with 550 hp flash you will love the 1850 # of torque and you having billet K31 turbo the fuel milage is  going to change very little. The 600hp was great but I did not need it with the 550hp I pass the H3 45 on on the hills some of the Nascar drivers will give you a thumb ups, Tony Stewarts driver must just have one finger. I do have a 14L non EGR    have a great evening and thanks for your help
