hi, can I put an 1100 and a 1200 on oppisit sides of the tag axle? I am in OK. on the road and have a flat

Thomas you need to match the tires if possible not knowing what size wheels you have a bit of info for you a 1100rX24.5 is about the same height as a 12r 22.5  also where are you in OK GCR Tire Co has the 1200 most of the time in stock but a 1100 on the tag will get you going but not a good idea for long term use with  mixed sizes of tires  any way you can lift and chain the tag up till you can get a tire the right size  sorry had the wrong name  of the tire co      good luck

Yes you can.  The only axle you need to run the same height tires left to right is the drive axle.  Both the tag axle and the steering axle can run different height or size tires left to right, as long as they can carry the load.  On the steer axle, you might encounter handling weirdnesses with different tires.  Personally, I always keep the steer tires at optimum tire pressure (correct for the weight, not the maximum listed on the side of the tire), and inspect them for damage often.  Good Luck, TomC

Yes, we did exactly that when we had a flat last summer on our drivers side tag. Put on a used 11.00/22.5. Passenger side still had a 12.00/22.5. Noticed no difference in handling.  Jack

sorry for the late reply, thanks guys. I had email service when I asked the question but not long enough to get the answers.  the tire service wanted $800 for a 1200-22.5 . I declined. Then I used ether to enflate the tire, aired it up every 100 miles or so and almost made it home. I ended up having a service truck change it to my spare 1100-22.5 .  I ordered 4 new tires when I got home.(1200) they are off brand and cost $355.00 each and will go on the drive tires.
I am sure they will dry rot before they wear out. We use the bus to live in while I work out of town(nearly full time) but will not just wander around the country any more.  Thanks again,  Tomas
