Bill -

Are you thinking of selling your '06 and keeping the '04, or vice-versa?

Must stop by and see both next time I'm in SJ - you're still behind Cambrian Park Plaza, right?

No Russ,  Not selling any of my stock here unless we are talking cars.  I am going to sell my Peugeot TD, but am reluctant to do it.  I sold my Mercedes 300 SD as it was a joke compared to the Lion.  Went through all 4 gears at less than 30 mph!  The MB elves sure blew it on the power windows in that unit.  My Liion shifts into 5th at 65.  That Peugeot is an '85 with the 2.5 TD.  I towed it behind the '06 when we went to buy it and it tracks beautifully.  I may buy another French TD and will know after this weekend if I will sell the Lion.  I won't be without a diesel no matter what.  Even though the fuel is more expensive right now, far less maintenance and far more reliable.  For a younger guy that has time to do the minor body work and paint this Lion, it would be a show stopper!  A couple of years ago I zipped down to Quartzite with this car, and again to Colorado to look at a 3751, and back and forth to Utah.  If we had to run to New York City right now, I would just fill her up and go.

I have two more '82 TDs out of state and will also be selling them.  One is like new and the other is very good.  So any diesel fans should contact me.  Getting too old to service this den of Lions.  I will keep one.

So back to the coaches.  The '04 may be done in January.  It may set a new record for length of time for repair.  But the DD shop has been a lot of fun for me to go over there and see what all they are doing.  I didn't need that '04 here anyway while I was cleaning up and it was stored inside over there and just loafed for a year.  They are still finishing up refitting the air cleaner, so I am just fine with the arrangement.  In the process of all the work over there, I saw the 4905s come in and thought someone could make one out of the two.  So that is what may be for sale if the owners of the respective coaches sell.  One is willing, and the other remains to respond.  Out of the two, one nice passenger unit could emerge.  The Valley Christian Bus is pretty good, but you are welcome to see it if you come by and visit us.

When I hear the 671 run smoothly it will all have been worth it.

Hi Bill,

Are you looking for a freebie?  If so, then you can list it in the "Spare Tire" but this section has a $50 limit.

If you are looking for more then $50, then you will have to pay MAK some commision and list it in our classifides at

http://busconversions.com/classifieds.htm

Then you will be priveliged to post a topic directing to your listing

If you would just like to direct someone to "another's" bus for sale, you can do so but, don't mention prices or have any involvment

with the sale of commisions.

Good Luck

Nick,  Thanks for the explanation.  I'm not interested in any money in this.  The DD shop is stuck with two coaches and I told them I would let the group here know if someone was interested.  I think one of these 4905s is worth putting back on the road. but whoever deals with them will have to make their own arrangements.  I was talking to Marty there and he added up what it would take to buy the coaches and change the engine from one to the other.  He added up the cost to buy out the owners, and the DD shop labor and materials to do the engine change.  That came to about $7K.  He pulled out records of 15K being spent on an in frame overhaul on the subject engine a few years ago and said he didn't think there were many miles on it since.  There is no odometer on the coach with the good engine in it.  The other good coach has an odometer that reads about 27K, but I don't think that is the total mileage on the coach.  I saw records back to 2000 when there was about 18 K on that coach.  That coach has good seats and nice interior.  No botch work, and not too much to do to have a nice passenger coach.  All glass is good and tires are good.  Two bay doors need to be changed from the engine donor coach.  There is dent damage on the bumpers of both coaches.  But the better coach bumpers could probably be removed and more easily straightened.  The depressions are pretty shallow.  I will check with RJ Long to see what the origin of these coaches is and let the group here know.  I don't think anyone here is interested as only one person emailed me about it and he seems in no hurry or is not interested.  If I was younger and starting a conversion, this coach would be interesting.  After having owned my '04 and '06 the increased storage bay size, increased engine compartment area, and the larger interior are all good reasons to consider a coach like this for full timing.  But you can probably pick up a good MCI 40 footer for about the same price.  So maybe this is a scenario that is just not in the realm of reason.  Unless someone is specifically looking for a 4905.  Bill T.
