Proheat location

  Hello everyone,

 
  Where is a good location to put a proheat in a MCI-5B?  I have 2 of them , one which I plan to use to have extra heat in the coach and the other one to keep the Bio-diesel tank hot.  Don't know if this an over kill, would one do the trick?

Hi Steve,

As far as location, it would bennifet you to locate the proheat in a compartment that you would want to keep warm like

your holding tanks or plumbing since the proheat itself puts off a good amount of radiant heat.

  Thanks for the response, I had no idea that it would put off that much radiant heat.  How much heat does it put out.  I have the same engine that you do but mine isn't turbo, natural!

If you mount your Proheat without using the cover it puts out a pretty fair amount of radiant heat and you can also see the computer readouts. If you use the cover I would cut an  opening so you could see the computer stuff and maybe a few good size holes to let it heat the bay. One proheat will do the job I hope because thats all I'm using and it will be heating my WVO. Zone valves are the key to better heat.

Where did you find a 8V92 non turbo? Not many of those were made. Almost ALL of the 92 series have a turbo.

Are you certain you don't actually have an 8V71? they look alike and are only one inch shorter than a 92 series.

  I bought my bus 4 years ago in Vancover, BC. Trailways repowered it  with the 8v-92.  I thought it too was a 71 series.  Found out it was a 92 when I had a injector let go in Montana bring it back home here in Indiana.  The power is hard to believe. You can see the picture of it on page 14 of where you look at bus owners pictures listed by NICK HERE ON THIS SITE!

Combine all of your wet systems in the same bay.

The further to the front the less noise while you sleep. Your layout will dictate the wet tank location.

You will not need much heat to keep your bio-diesel tank within useable range, if you insulate your bays. If your water is not freezing neither is your bio.
