I'll tell you, if I had my way, THE bus I would want to convert now, cost and parts availability not withstanding, would be one of the very rare GM TGH-3301's.  Classic New Look Styling, air suspension, gas engine, and small enough to really get places.  That would be the coach for me!  I don't need much room anymore.  Even a 35' tarnsit can be a pain to navigate.  Forget all the rusty old 'Hounds.

I agree, it would make a very neat little conversion, but why would anyone want a gas engine?

I picked up and drove home the 1947 MCI  Courier 200 that Dallas found on e'bay.

I was pleasantly surprised with the power and speed of the old Contential engine with it's paint can pistons.

I don't know what rear end gearing it has but that old  6 and 4 speed and six certainly got up and went.
