Fuel tank liner, does anyone have experience with them?

I may have a leak on the fuel tank of our 4106, so I started looking at the prospect of removing and changing or repairing the tank.  Someone suggested a liner product would be a good way to go.  I had not heard of a liner before and was hoping someone here may have experience with them.  Is it a cheap fix not worth doing or is it a good way to go even with a good tank?   I understand the tank still should be cleaned, rust removed and repaired.     Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.    Denis

its used at repair shops but i have always seen them clean and repair the leaks first before using it

We used to use a fuel tank bladder in our race cars, but they are not practical for what you are intending! You'd have to cut a large hole in the tank to install it and then plate over the hole, plus they just aren't needed on a bus (shoot we didn't feel they were needed on the race cars either but USAC said "if you run USAC sanctioned events your car will comply with USAC rules!") FWIW

It must be clean, clean, clean. I tried (3) times to have a welder plug a small hole in my '83 MB diesel without success. I obtained a replacement from a doaner vehicle for cheap. Least expensive transportation from Va Bch to AC was Greyhound Packages.

Good luck, I have since had the orig. tank rewelded but have yet to check its integrity.
