OK Paul,
First off as I see it if you can afford to use it as a toad then you should be able to afford the tires! (not trying to be a smart @$#, JMHO!) I also noticed in 1 post you said "cost of trailer is not a problem!" Then in the next post you mention "enclosed trailers are too price!y" I don't quite understand why they are too pricey considering the level of security they can provide from thieves, vandals, weather and privacy. They can also double as a work shop if you put lighting, and heat-A/C in them when the toad is outside of it! If I had an expensive toad, ATV and other toys I was gonna haul around a well set up enclosed trailer/mobile work shop is the only way I'd go! Now on the other hand if I were going for cheapest/convenient I'd get a manual trans pick up truck and throw the ATV in the bed and tow it 4 down!

In addition to the amenities that BK detailed, I would like to mention a couple of additional ones that I had installed in my desert toy hauler. Since we spent so much time in the desert where it was dusty, dirty and windy much of the time we used the trailer for many things. Also, after pulling a VW engine to change clutches or after a few hour ride in the dunes we were typically very dirty.

I installed a toilet and wash basin in the front of the trailer with 30 gallon fresh water and 30 gallon black water tank along with the necessary plumbing and water pump to make it all operational. Sure saved a lot of trips into the coach with all the dirt which would have accompanied us. There was generally at least a half dozen of us guys involved in all this.

Also, since the high powered VW's liked high powered fuel, I also installed a 50 gallon fuel tank with electric fuel pump and hose for the AVgas that we normally run in our sand rails.  Gee, back then I thought $2.00 per gallon for AVgas was outrageous. It's probably $5.00 per gallon now. LOL

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a good Reisling in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming:  WOO HOO, what a ride

Hi yo silver

The ability of some of you guys to "think outside the box" as they say, never ceases to amaze me, and this thread is a good example.  This board just seems to get better.  There sure is a lot of collective experience out there, and it makes me more confident in getting into this business of bus ownership.  I'm hopeful this is the week for me.
Thanks everybody for all your contributions.

My 2 cents

whaddya wanna use it for,  if your full timing, may want the trailler to haul extra stuff,  and sense you be moving from site to site less, may not be too bad too deal with since not very often.

if weekending go 4 down, quick and less to deal with.

or better yet, turn the bus into a car hauler, seen pictures of it done with a rts.  u don't need all that space when going down the road, pull out snazzy car when you stop.

do it your way!!
It's all fun and games til someone gets hurt. ;)
