OT: Computer Question

Some how all my favorites were wiped out and every trace of where I had been was gone. I have my passwords stored in my computer and was able to find them once but not again, can anybody tell me where to find them again?

If your running XP or Win 2K your favorites folder should be C:\Documents and Settings\ your user name or log in name\Favorites

Thanks, Found the favorites but not the area where passwords and usernames are stored.
The trip is going fine I screwed up and didn't confirm 2 gigs withe the same owner and lost them but rescheduled also got a couple last minute gigs. Only got 5 MPG from Nashville to Conesville driving 55 to 60 but bucking strong winds. I'm in a campground outside Moline Il. on the Rock river might stay here most of the summer.

 Go to start, seach, folder, type the name of the folder where the passeword are store & search, that should bring them up.  The way I store mine= I use a USB stick/flash drive, & copy favorites, address, password,& some other important notes on it & I carry it in my wallet(not bigger then a pack of chewing gum),  If I am using someone else PC  I got my infos.

Capt Ron, do you have Windows XP or Vista? If so do you know how to do a system restore?
  Left click on start, Left click on all programs, Left click on accessory's, Left click on system tools, Left click on system restore. Pick a date  before you lost all info. If that does not work, I usually sacrifice a chicken to the computer Gods on a blue moon

Thanks, for the replies but unfortunately they are not what I'm looking for yet. I've done most of what you guys have said. I did a system restore but that didn't put the favorites back where they were but thanks to
Ron Pevost82 I did find them. What I need to find is the place where the computer automatically stores the web site, username and password when you are prompted to save this info when you first type it in (do you want windows to remember?) I found it once but can't find it again.

Ron,

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but Internet Explorer and Windows stores saved passwords in the registry.

Windows doesn't allow you or even the administrator to have access to that registry key.

If your registry wasn't saved in a restore backup, you may be SOL

The good part:
There are password hacks that can possibly break into the registry key, but it can take hours or even days.

The bad part:
The password hacks are viruses, and may do more damage than good. If they work at all.

Ron ... that would be in your internet cookies (Internet Temp Folder) and if you deleted your cookies your are SOL.

Ron, if you are using Mozilla Firefox, here's what you do. Look up at the top of the browser window and:

1. Click on "Tools"
2. Then "Options"
3. Click on the "Security" tab
4. Look around the middle of the page for the "password" section. That's where the "passwords" are stored. There you will find several options.

If you're not using Firefox, now would be a very good time to start. As with anything else on this board....that's just my opinion.

I've used Fierofox for months and wouldn't think of going back to Internet Explorer
