This has been posted for me many times before, but I don't have a moment to search for it.  Could someone please post the directions for putting a 2000 Tahoe into Neutral for the purpose of towing flat down?  thanks.  I've finally purchased a replacement for my towed....ghanson

Here is a procedure I prepared several years ago that you might want to copy and keep in a convenient place.
Be warned that GM redesigned the Tahoe in 2000 so procedures for a 1999 Tahoe may not apply. Brian
1999 Tahoe 4 X4
Shifting Transfer Case with automatic transmission and Electronic transfer case

Shifting to Neutral
The vehicle should be attached to the tow vehicle before shifting to neutral
1.   Set the Parking Brake
2.    Start the vehicle
3.   Put the transmission in NEUTRAL (N)
4.   Shift the transfer case to 2HI (if necessary)
5.   Simultaneously press and hold the 2HI and 4LO buttons for 10 seconds. The NEUTRAL light will come on when the transfer case shift to neutral is complete.
6.   Shift the transmission to REVERSE (R) for one second.
7.   Shift the transmission to AUTOMATIC OVERDRIVE (D) for one second.
8.   Turn the ignition switch to OFF (Accessory, not lock)
9.   Place the transmission shift lever in PARK (P)
10.   Release Parking brake
11.   Make sure steering wheel is not locked.

Shifting out of Neutral
1.   Set the parking brake
2.   Apply the foot brake
3.   Start the vehicle with the transmission in PARK (P)
4.   Press the 2HI button
5.   Shift the transmission to NEUTRAL (N)
6.   When the transfer case has shifted out of NEUTRAL the NEUTRAL light will go out and the 2HI light will come on.

Yes, thank you so much.  I was in a bit of a hurry yesterday, and my wireless was slow where I was.....being fundamentally lazy also plays a part in my decision to post.  Anyway, thanks for doing the legwork for me, and I promise to do it myself next time <g>.''

Here's the new towed, and a photo of the old one as well.....
