Hello all,

I'm in the process of connecting an RV electric recliner (passenger seat) in my '02 MCI. I will need to pull 12 volt from the bus system (at least until I get a house system installed).

With all the trouble I had from removing the upper storage compartment wiring, I am a bit paranoid about adding any system to the bus OEM. I have available 12 volt at the front J-Box. Do I need to be concerned with blowing up computers by adding this chair, or should I wait until I have a house system installed? Thank you all in advance.

There should be a 12v buss that you can tap into, maybe with your own inline fuse or something neater, might even be a spare slot for one. I'd be looking at the panel under the driver's window. Or there could even be a 12v lead left from your overhead wiring especially if it had cigar sockets for the passengers.

I saw it on the Internet. It MUST be true...

Thanks Jim, I do have some open fuse slots. I am just so paranoid about wiring now...

I would be too. But just stay away from anything having to do with multiplex or comm busses and you should be OK.

I don't know what the max load the 12v power buss can handle might be but I think that is probably your only concern here. I wouldn't think your recliner would draw enough current to load down the buss enough to matter though. Happily you are only dealing with load current and not signal flow.
