Does anybody know where I can get a 12 volt jake solenoid part number on the top is 003784. It's an 8 v 71
I was changing the o-rings and the wire pulled out of the coil pretty brittle probably needed to be replaced. I'll check with Luke on Monday

Thanks in advance Rick

Also check with C&J Bus in MN

That is a  choice I get all my JakeBrake parts though from www.pacbrake.com they are less than 1/2 the price of Detroit and give good service too, that solenoid is used on other engines beside a Detroit fwiw

Pac brake wants 110 bucks a piece for the 12 volt solenoid I found 24 volt on eBay for 48 bucks. Can I just change the supply to 24volt and be good I'm thinking I can

You can always add a condenser on each master  from the old points and condenser systems from long ago that acts the same as capacitor that was done on Jakes for years for 12 to 24 volts

Rick

The Jakes should  be 24 v on a MCI anyways but you need to change all 4 at one time Jake solenoids were 12/24 v not voltage sensitive lol then they found another way to gouge you

That's but I figured looks like 53 and 71 are the same I'll change all four for 48 bucks and just change the lead to grab the 24 volt side

Thank you so much Clifford

I was in the process of replacing all the o-rings the wires are so brittle they were breaking so I figured I would just change the solenoids

I called PacBrake today for a Jacobs rebuild kit P89201 for the 8v71/92. The answer I got was, "they are on indefinite back order because of how the world is these days."  ::)
The guy said there are a couple components they are missing and don't know when they can get them.
I did find a NOS "TEC Brake" kit, anyone have experience with those?

TEC has been around for awhile some of their stuff is ok coming from Mexico some not so good but I never had problems with their rebuild kits the flow valves look as good as any  manufacture .I installed a set of their housing on a M-11 Cummins and they broke 1/2 into the next set is still going though 10 years later, that has to be old kit they haven't sold parts for 71/92 Jakes for years
