We're in the initial stages for planning a spring break run down to Padre Island.  It looks like the ktag will work in a few other states as well.

I've taken the Kansas turnpike before in car and it was cheap enough, but it looks like with the traveling we'll be doing it make sense to get an electronic tag.

I've also considered avoiding the tolls all together.   Thoughts?

Easy to avoid tolls if you are in no hurry. Better scenery too. Watch your speed in small towns though.

Well speed in the beginning stages is definitely in my mind, once into TX, I'm fine to meander more. Only planning to be gone for 10 days or so.

When we head that direction we take I 35 to Emporia KS to get out of the worst of the cold and just before the Toll, then run all secondary roads. Works for us !
