86 MCI 102a3 baggage door air lock override?

The fella that had my bus conversion before me removed all of the baggage door air lock mechanisms except for the front entry door side bay.

That one stopped working and, just my luck, it is locked.  So I can't get into it now to remove that mechanism and of course I can't get to it from inside the bay either when it is closed.

Anyone have a secret trick to get that door open so that I can remove the mechanism??

I can post a picture tomorrow if you like of an 88  MCI 102 A3 . But if you air up the bus the lever on the dash should release the door . As the lack of air locks the door.

The release in the bus no longer makes the lock release.

I have taken everything out of that bay via the other side of the bus, but there is a panel with a piano hinge riveted onto the door to make it travel correctly when you open the door.  That panel prevents me from getting to the mechanism that locks the baggage door when aired up.  The only way I see to get to it is when you door is not locked you can raise it up half way and reach in from the top to access it.  But with the release not working I can't get to it.

Study the locking rods beyond the handle on another door.

You may even have to go so far as to disassemble the place where it grabs down at bottom.

There has to be something to disassemble somewhere between the grab at the bottom and the handle, otherwise, how did the mechanics fix them?

Happy coaching!

Have you confirmed that air is getting to it? Perhaps the reason it stopped working is not in the door but in the air supply to it.

Just thought I would let ya'all know I got the bay door open.

Ended up just sticking a hacksaw blade through the gap between the handle and the door and cutting the locking rod off.

No big deal to me as it was the only one that still had the airlock anyway.  I have padlocks I use to lock the others.
