Hello all,

Couple questions for a 1964 MCI MC5...

I'm looking for a turn signal switch assembly.  The part number for the switch and wiring is 7C-8-215.  For just the switch it's 7C-8-206.  I'm sure they've been discontinued long ago, but I would guess they had newer parts that might work.  Is there a way to look up what the newer part numbers would be?

Second, I called MCI today to see if they have the parts I need, but apparently I would need a customer account first.  Would it be worthwhile to make an account with them or do they only have parts for newer buses?

Thanks,
Jed

Yes, set up an account with MCI. When I had my MC-7 and MC-9 I had an account.  It makes things much easier.  They will have many parts for MC-5 buses. Their technical support line is also very good and they can be a big help too.

Also, try calling Mando at http://completecoach.com and he will be able to get you many used MCI bus parts as they scrap these old buses all of the time and have many of the parts for these old buses.  Many of the parts were also used in the later model MCI buses and he can cross reference them for you. He can usually ship you the parts you need on the same day you call him.  (951) 836-4440

For your bus a MCI account would not do any good the older MCI parts are sold through Vintage Parts now and that is where MCI will send you,go to Vintage Parts enter your manufacture make with the MCI parts number done deal after you set up your Vintage account  if they have it

If no luck there, check with Luke at U.S. Coach.

Thanks all,

I created an account at Vintage Parts, but they don't seem to have it.

I may create an account with MCI as well, just to see what they say.

I called Luke a few days ago, but I think he's pretty swamped and just hasn't had the time to research it yet.  I'll try Complete Coach as well and see if they have it.

If I have the part number from 1964, is there a way to find out what the superseding part numbers are?

Thanks,
Jed

Talk to a human being who knows how to manipulate the old parts books.

Not someone who just mumbles that the part is discontinued, looking at a computer screen.

The guts for a turn signal switch should not be insurmountable, we all have 'em and it is a wear item.

Happy coaching!

Hey Jed,
I have an 84 MCI-9 and I did set up an MCI account when I first got it. Iv'e found that if I call their tech guys, that they are real helpful with looking through their old parts manuals and finding me the numbers, sometimes they will have updated a number if they changed suppliers as things got outdated.
