Cost of DDEC diagnostic tools?

My bus is DDEC3, and I/ve heard mention of a CD and other tools. I'd like to see inside that magic box, so I was wondering what the cost was.

If you want to get a Pro-Link 9000 scanner, the cheapest way to do it is to buy one for old GM cars  -  they have the same 12-pin diagnostic connector as DDEC uses, saving you $50 for the adapter, then you discard the GM cartridges and buy whichever DDEC cartridge you need.   I paid under $100 for a 1990s GM Pro-Link complete with case and printer and cables, and not much more for a DDEC cartridge.   It works just fine for me.

You need a ProLink and cartridge for DDEC II, or something like John says.  For III and up they went to CD.    The Kent Mor CD for DDEC V (first year of the EGR) will read III, IV and V.  If you don't want to be able to make engine configuration changes, then a diagnosis and monitoring unit will work, like the Detroit Diesel Pro Driver or Silverleaf.  Silverleaf Electronics makes a line of equipment that I wouldn't be without.  I have had two of the VMS 440.  The VMSPC simply plugs into a laptop.

Watch the E place, you might find a used CD, then you just need the cable parts (probably from your local DD distributor) and of course your computer.  Price would be reasonable.  Check with Silverleaf Electronics for their product pricing, I heard they dropped their prices significantly.
