Well, it is a 10 wheel Crown! You might talk him down a bit if it needs a set of new tires.

A few years ago these were going for about 4k at auction.

RJ Long... now that you've moved into the "boredom bus" category...

How about this "hobby bus" to re-kindle memories of long ago?

happy coaching!

Good part.  It is a Crown 10 wheeler.  Has flat windshield glass.  White paint on roof.  Advertisement says it starts and runs.  Probably has either a RT910 or a RTO910.

Bad part.  Old Cummins 743 engine.  Probably a 220.  Rear escape hatch rust.  Probably air assist power steering.  Corrosion on dash.  Unknown corrosion on left front switching panel.

12K front axle.  Probably walking beam rear suspension.  Unknown general condition.  Unknown frame cracks behind drivers.  Unknown for a lot of things.  Value of the Crown?

Probably will go for scrap.  That is our reality.  It would take too much work and money to rebuild the old girl.  Go gently into the night my sweetheart.  Difficult to say today.  Sad.

220 pancake Cummins.  Nobody could come out ahead on this bus.

If it were in California someone would snap it up for at least parts if it sold for scrap value or less, but in the Crown wastelands of Michigan it's a long way from anyone who'd truly appreciate it, so it will probably get crushed.   A Crown tandem really needs an 855 Cummins with a 10-speed, then they'll fly  -  an anaemic old 220 won't do much in it.   Maybe someone can spend the time and effort to restore it, but it would be an uphill battle, especially in MI.

On eBay now there's a Crown Atomic tour bus in Kansas, my friend's trying to sell his lightly-restored 1958, and that fuggly Frankenbus tandem (for only $52,666.69!) that was commented on here before has reared its butt-ugly head again.   In comparison, the MI tandem looks like very sad.
