I am attempting to change the wiring in my GMPD4106  to eliminate the Regulator sensing relay.
The Voltage Regulator quit a couple of weeks ago so I got a replacement IC  board from Luke. When I put the "new" voltage regulator in it still didn't work until I ran a HOT wire to the positive terminal of the VR. Now that I have the VR out as well as the sensing relay out I am somewhat confused on the wiring terminals on the VR.
In the bus manual the VR diagram shows 3 terminals-POS, FIELD and SWITCH with the case being grounded.

However in the instruction I am using to replace the relay the diagram shows POS, FIELD and NEG(ground). And when I check the VR with a meter it shows that the terminal marked SWITCH on the VR is grounded.

Is the Delco Remay VR grounded through the case or via a terminal and ground wire?

Ok all's a relay is a switch so you can energize higher voltage equipment ( starter,high amp blower so on ) .a voltage regulator keeps voltage at same level as not to apply to much voltage this is a regulator general diagram
