We will be down South in February and both need dental work. I heard that the dentists in Los Algodones, near Yuma, are good and cheap. Is this still true? If so, who can recommend a good one. Several years ago, I went down there, parked at the border, and walked across, and got eye glasses for about half as much as it would've been in Canada. And the quality was just as good, very professional office and optometrist. And, if we do this, where is a good place to park the bus in Yuma for a few days? Thanks in advance.

JC most are trained or go to school in the us just don't have to licenses and all the red tape is why they are cheaper there. PM Clifford they used to go there I think he was telling me.

Hi, JC

Indeed the dentists and opticians there are very good, quite reasonable for prices, and in most cases it's all done same day.
I just purchased eyeglasses there for $200USD, all options included.  The last pair of eyeglasses I purchased ( comparable ) was at Walmart in Manitoba 4 years ago. $700+

Most of the parks here have vacancies....there aren't as many people here this year.

Our park has a daily. weekly or monthly rate. 50amps. large lots, and reasonable.

Lineups, however, to re-enter US have been substantially slower lately.  90-120 minutes in line is common waiting time.

JC, Michael and Christi Hargis, (bus people, and he performed at the Quartzsite rally a couple of years ago) are managing an rv park just over the river from Yuma called Sans End Rv.  I have gone to, and sent a few other people, to  Robert Narrvaro in Algodones.  Go one block in and go to the left, the street curves around to the left. He is at the back of a little court yard on the right side of the street. It is called the Flamingo Pavilion or something like that.

We have been going to Sam for over 20 years. Last there in Oct 16.

He may not be the cheapest, but in our opinion, he is by far the best. Probably all of them are pretty good. They have to be or word would get out.

In my opinion, you don't bargain or haggle for Medical or Dental care. You take your chances or go with recommendations. We have visited Dentists and Doctors from Acapulco to Juarez, Tijuana, Cabo San Lucas and Algodones and have never had a bad experience.

I did seven overseas tours during my Military career and obtained care from many foreign Dentists. When we were in Kenya, our Dentist was from Uganda, educated at North Western. Americans are ignorant and biased about medical care in the rest of the world.

Sam is the one we recommended to Clifford & Sonya 20 years ago and as far as I know that is still where they go.

There are plenty of RV Parks in Yuma. There are several places to park cheaper. Probably better you just go and look around. The Indian land directly north of the Algodones crossing is a possibility. The BLM land (Pilot Knob?) just west of there is also available. More to the north. If you plan to stay longer, There are usually some spots available in the Foothills. Do a Google search for RV spot rentals in Yuma.

Do not put this off until after the middle of March. Many of the Doctors in Algodones vacation or work other places during the off season when the Snow Birds are gone.

Hope this helps,
Good Luck,
