In the shop manual, either under suspension or axles, are the dimensions for the distance between the axle and the rubber bump stops on the chassis when the leveling valves are properly adjusted.  I'd suggest that you look up those numbers and adjust your suspension accordingly, even with the manual leveling system.  Best done over a pit if you can find one, and don't just "eyeball" it, either!

The Stemco seal will set you back about $6 or so - don't wait for the potential problem that could occur because of a failed six buck part!

Other than that, a really nice write-up plus observations, except you forgot to mention sighting Tortoise!   ;D

Lee, yep. Learned that one for sure.
RJ, it was pretty neat to see tortoise in real life :) next time it should be more than a passing glance. Good advice on checking dimensions when adjusting leveling on air bags. Will need to spend more time doing this to dial it in right.
