Hi Dan, I used Good Sam once several years ago and they sent a Landoll to tow my bus away it was a MCI5A and everything was fine, recently I had to use it again only my mechanic called and the price was cheaper, the tow company also works with Good Sam and they sent me a paper to get a reimbursement for the cost of it and I'll let you know here if everything goes well, lvmci...

I also had to use roadside . My coach blew rear end 3yrs ago. They towed it 30 miles to garage but would have towed it to my house also ! Very easy to work with .will always use and have them as back up !!

A few years ago after picking the bus up from being turbocharged by Don Fairchild on the way up I-15  to Las Vegas, we sprang a leak in the cross over fuel hose. Got to Baker, Ca and knew there was a tow shop there. Called in the afternoon and told them we had Good Sam Towing and they were thrilled to do the Landoll tow. Since Barstow was closest, they would have towed the bus there for free. But who wants to be stuck in Barstow? I paid an extra $150 to have it towed to Williams Detroit Diesel in Las Vegas. Even though it was just the cross over fuel line, they would not touch it. Ultimately, Don Fairchild drove up from Bakersfield with his tools and a compressor in the back of his pickup and was there the next morning. Don had the coolant drained, thermostat housings off, new cross over hose made, thermostat house back on, coolant back in the engine and running in 45 minutes. Rather bad news for Williams. Needless to say we went to nice dinner that night. Good Luck, TomC

For 80 bucks the offer Goodsam has now it would be worth a try IMO,me I am not a fan of anything the Camping World group is involved in,they sell overpriced junk even with the membership is always 20 to 30% higher than a mom and pop rv store lol price their tires with the membership

I am a Good Sam Lifetime Member, from way back, but I agree, they are overpriced for most everything. I noticed that an ad for Good Sam Travel assist popped up right after the last post on the Bulletin Board. The introductory price for the road assist might be worth it, but the price will climb next year. CoachNet is an alternative to consider. Whatever plan you use, make sure that they will actually cover your coach. Some plans have size or age exclusions.

FMCA had offer not long ago also, what I like about Coachnet you don't need to pay  membership dues to a origination that load you up on junk mail or a useless magazine  or buy their insurance to have their towing service JMO I been with Coachnet almost 20 years now

had good service the only time I have used the insurance.  Had a tire replaced on Inter state 85 on a Saturday night.

Clifford   I have had good sam road assistance for 5 years.   do not have regular good sam. do not even go to camping world.

89.95 per year.

coach net wanted me to belong to fmca to join.

do not want fmca either.  do not believe in paying to be able to purchase something.

Do not belong to Sams club or cosco either.

Ned,Coachnet broke ties with FMCA 10 or 12 years ago I don't know how you are setup but I am reading the application if you want the $69.95 auto, $79.99 auto/RV or the $114.95 platinum deal you join Good Sam.I am a member of Good Sam because of the free sewer dump and good propane prices it is worth the $25.00 a year to me just for the sewer dump

I have had Coachnet and Good Sam Platinum.  The Good Sam Platinum has cut back on their coverage, but I have used them several times and it pays for itself.

And I do NOT belong to Good Sam because of the annoying mail.

Looks like the real answer is you need some kind of towing or tire insurance if you drive one of these old beasts.

It takes a big guy and good tools just to let the front bumper down on Huggy must less get the tire out.

would not leave home with out it and only used it once in over 15 years of driving old stuff.

Have had Good Sam roadside assistance for over 25 years, used it twice with s&s rvs.  Both times went smoothly with no delays or undo expense.  I was very satisfied and have continued with their emerg. assistance with my conversion.  With that said I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will not need them, except for a dead battery or gas in one of my cars.
