we use nothing but after we dump 5 times we put in a cup of A &H washing soda powder and 2 gallons of water. It cleans the tanks without doing anything. Never any odors.

Ardemco, a leading provider of RV Tanks, Toilets, Holding Tanks, and Holding Tank Level Monitors, recommends poring a half cup of laundry detergent into your potty and shower drain each time after you MT your gray and black water tanks.  This helps clean up any residue which may be sticking to the top and sides of your tanks and even in your drain hose. For more information about Ardemco, click on their Ad that pops up at the top of this Forum every now and then. If you need a new Toilet, Toilet parts or accessories or need any information about RV septic systems, check them out.

Ardemco also offers Marine toilets like I have in my Eagle that macerates up the goodies and pumps them into your black water tank so there is no clogging up of the tank with bunched up TP.  With this system, you don't even need to close your black water valve when you are hooked up because gravity takes care of everything.  Feel free to call them at 800-253-0115 or visit their website at www.ardemco.com for all of your Tanks, Toilets, and Holding Tank needs.

If your bus will be sitting for a while without being used, it is a good idea, if you don't have them already, to install the side spray nozzles that you install into the side of your black water tank that you hook a garden hose to.  They shoot a high pressure spray pattern against the sides of your tanks so it knocks off anything left after you drain your tank. I did this on my bus and you can definitely see the excess TP chunks flow out into the drain hose after you think it is already clean.

BTW, I also use a clear RV sewer hose adapter so I can see what is coming out.  This helps tremendously and they come in three different lengths of about 4", 6" and 10".  I just bought a new one for my Eagle from Pacific RV Parts.  They run less than $10 each there but Pacific's prices are a bit lower than most.  Then you can be sure to flush your tanks completely until the water comes out clear enough to drink. (Just be sure not to use too much laundry detergent or it will taste soapy.)  When it is that clear then you know you got everything out and it won't stink anymore.

Click on Pacific RV Parts Banner Ad at the top of this page when it pops up now and then for all of your RV needs.  They are very knowledgeable folks and it is a small family operated business with low overhead and they ship all over the U.S.  Check them out at http://www.prvparts.com/ or call them at 888-600-4845.
