I'm pretty sure I can loosen the adjusters on the front's and tags easy enough but what about the service brakes? We need to get the bus chassis out of a shed after pulling the motor and transmission and I don't want to get stuck here.  Any thoughts?

The bus is being scrapped so we're not against crimping air lines etc.

I just plug the removed air lines from engine use shop air and release the DD-3 you need to grab those DD-3 while you are at it they may come in handy later

That sounds complex Clifford. Are the lines all the same basically?

If you're scrapping it I would just get a torch in there and cut the drive wheel slack adjuster arms in half.  Or take the advice, take the rear wheels off and pull off the DD3's.  You can take them off with them fully applied no problem, just undo the two bolts that hold them to their mount.  I think Clifford is suggesting plugging the large air line that went to the compressor at the ping tank, and airing up the bus with shop air until you can release the brakes.  Why would you need to release the adjusters on the front and tag slack adjusters?  They should be loose already, and not be dragging.  If they are dragging loosening them more probably won't do anything.

You don't need to loosen the front and tax axle brakes. They are not activated by the parking brake. Only the drive axle brakes.
You can loosen the slack adjusters. Just make sure you have it blocked well or it might roll over you.

Another option is to air it up before you remove the engine and pull the pins on the slack adjusters. Then you don't have to do anything.

Tell him I'm interested in those DD3 cans, too.

We should just have a party at the shop.   I think the more people we have there that know what they are doing the faster it should go for everyone.

Let me know when you plan to do it. If I can, I'd come and at least supervise.  ::)
