Thats where they are at.  We're trying to talk them into bypassing the ECM and go direct.  Just like we had them in the old days.  I think they've spent over $2000 trying to get DD dealers to get it to work.  Too add to the problem, it was a DDEC2 engine and they put a DDEC3 in its place.

If he has a ATEC or a WTEC transmission if the program is not in the transmission the Jakes will not engage on a DDEC, he can do what ever he wants but I would hook the Jakes direct

Its a 740 so its not electronic.  Yes, they should hook them direct and be gone.

Let him do it but the Jakes hooked up direct has no way of telling the Jakes it is going no fuel, If your friend is in OR I can send him to a shop that can have the Jakes working in a hour if they did all the right things when upgrading from a ll to lll

good luck

He's in Billings now at Detroit.  They wont be getting to OR, plus the funds have run out for this.  I figured when he comes here, if they arent working, I will wire them direct.  I assure you that all the upgrade "things" were not done.

He'll have to get used to letting off the throttle, then throwing a switch, turning the Jake on, etc.
