10R x 22.5 tire question

I am running 11R x 22.5 tires on my drive axle. I found a killer deal on new 10R x 22.5 tires and was wondering if they would be appropriate for tags ?

Once again, the one and only determining factor is if the tire will support the weight. Weigh your bus when it is full by axle then look at the manufactures inflation tables for that particular tire. That will tell you if you can use it.

The 14ply rated 10R-22.5 will support 5355lbs per tire on a drive or 5675lbs on the tag axle (not enough for that 12,000lb tag axle). It's rpm is 517. Rather then using the odd ball sized 10R-22.5, the standard low profile 275/80R-22.5 or 295/75R-22.5 are the same 517rpm and is the standard of the trucking industry now-translated-easy to obtain when on the road. I realize the 10R is probably cheaper, but cheaper looses it's appeal when you have trouble with it and have to wait several days for a new tire to come in. Good Luck, TomC
