Got home from 1000 mile turn around.  Man it was nice to get old blue out on the open road again.  I noticed by the end of the trip the bus was idling higher than normal. When I stopped off of the freeway and went to park, the engine was at high idle.  If I hit the high idle button and let it rev up and turned it off then the idle would go back to normal.  Any suggestions?

When I stopped to put it in park the bus was running as if the high idle button was turned on.  When I turned the high idle button on it would idle even higher.  Then when I turned the button off it would all go back to normal.

Might be as simple as sticking throttle linkage.  If it happens again, try lifting the foot pedal with your hand or toe and see if it comes up and the RPM's decrease.

The high idle is part of the buffer system.  I would check to see if it is sticking or working properly, maybe the cylinder needs some love.  The buffer system gets a lot of respect from a lot of knowledgeable folk, so it not working properly may be a big problem.  Another thought - activating high idle locks the main speed control lever in idle - so if you have a simple sticking throttle cable, that would indeed clear it.

Alright I have a place to start.  Thank you fellas.  I think I know where the problem might be.  There is a grease fitting on the linkage.  I busted it off some time ago.  The bedroom was installed covering the top engine access port.  I intend to get in there and open it up.  i have a slight oil link from the air pump line as well.  I guess  it is time to get in there.  Thank you fellas.
