Driving down these horrible washboard gravel roads, I get a bit of L to R play in the steering wheel.  I can hear it in the  steering box.  I've checked tie rods, king pins, so on and so forth.  I have adjusted many steering gear boxes, its just been so long, I dont remember the details, but for the obvious.  Not sure this exactly the fix, but its all I can think of.

Enlighten me......

It all depends on your steering box--some you can adjust the free-play, others you can't.

You need to identify your bus and steering box to get an answer

The 1995 Blue Birds were terrible about steering I forgot how many recalls they had but it was several they were so bad and the Q was the worst depending on the chassis most had the ZF 8018 steering it's been a long time but I don't think the ZF 8018 had a adjustment

good luck

Looks to me that the nut in the middle with a screw coming out the middle is the adjustment.  Make sure the steering wheel is centered, then after tightening, make sure you can turn the wheel lock to lock. But-still find out for sure about the adjustment screw.  Good Luck, TomC
