Heat and more on T.C. Ceramics

Okay, I have got to tell yall about this. Some of you will recall the discussion we had about This particular ceramic coating. Some said it doesnt do anything for  R value. And they are right, it doesnt have a R value. It does reflect heat and does not absorb. First of the summer, we were using our pool which has a wooden deck. Our feet always burn on it, so we decided to do a test board with the ceramic on it. Well, the board without the ceramic was 135 degrees and the one with the coating was 102. WOW. So, we put it all over the deck and now you can walk, stand lay, etc. and be comfortable. Oh, and the test was done on a day that was 102 degrees outside temp. So, with that said, I cant see it not doing a fantastic job on a bus. Top stays cool as can be, no matter the temp. Anyhow, just thought I would update our findings on this, as I know we all try and beat the heat, and no we have no connections with this product, just a good find!

Ruthi, I was wondering about the texture of the coating.. is it rough or smooth? Also have you compared it to aluminum or white paint? And once it is applied to a smooth surface (like a bus roof) does it peel or stretch to come off?

Five years ago this product was applied at the time of my coach paint job. It was applied with a roller.  One coat.  Application with a roller leaves a rough finish.  It sticks real good, have not had any peel off.  Have not done any temperature tests but I believe it is highly effective.  The only negative that I can mention is that there is an initial run off of white film the first couple times that water gets on it, then it clears up.  Mike Wilson, painter of my bus, uses it all the time. TC advertises the product as lowering temps by 20-50 degrees.  I recommend it.

Walk barefoot on asphalt on a hot day and you will learn real quick that the white line is a lot cooler.

I just went the the TC website and it says now that it is good up to 500 f....  wonder if it would be worth paint the top of the engine room to reflect the heat from the engine and exhaust pipes away from the bedroom?

Ruth's bus is painted with this stuff on the inside of the engine compartment.  The original foam that was there is gone.
