I hope nobody converts that bus, it is a rare find.

Trouble is you need a CDL to drive it and insurance on a passenger bus is a killer.

It seems to me that it would depend on where you live as to needing a CDL...... Here in California my RTS is registered as a personal bus and I dont need a CDL, but the PO registered it that way and when I bought it most of the seats had already been removed.

I think if it has fewer than 15 seats, it can be registered how you want.  But over that it requires the CDL.

When coming back in to California once, I had a whole group of friends, and yes they were drunk.  they thought it would be funny to hang out the windows and "talk" to the checkpoint person.  They made sure I had fewer than 15 people in the bus before they let me go.  So I think they were serious about it.

In some states if you restored it and got some sort of classic or antique vehicle plates for it you may not need the cdl, insurance would probably depend on wether you carry any passengers, then liability insurance comes into play.

I thought about going after it...however I looked at the gas pedal...that bus has some miles!
