Long overdue travel post

Hey Folks,

After purchasing an Eagle model #20 last Thanksgiving, I promised to give a report on our 'new' ride and, here it is.

Gloria and I, along with out two grandsons, Conner and Caden, left Shelbyville, Tn. for Arcadia the day following Christmas.   We visited relatives and friends on the way down through Georgia and North Florida.  The coach water system was frozen when we left Tennessee and, although it thawed in southern Georgia, the pipes were broken.  However, with the help of fellow Eagle owner Eric from South Carolina, we made short work of the repairs and really enjoyed the Arcadia rally.  We made the 800 mile run back home in two days so Conner and Caden wouldn't miss any days of school.  The Eagle ran as advertised - no oil usage and 6.8 mpg. in 1700 miles from the big Detroit Series 60.

On May 5th, Gloria and I headed for the mountains of East Tennessee and spent three days with the GMC Motorhome group, the DixieLanders, at their Bean Station rally.  As GMC Royale owners, it was like 'old home week'.  We really wanted to attend the Palmetto Cove get-together but, the two events were scheduled for the same weekend.  On to Wilmington, NC to visit friends for 3 days, then to Charleston, SC, Agusta, GA, Atlanta, GA (with many stops in between) and, two weeks later we were back in Shelbyville, TN.  Again, the Detroit Series 60 pushed the big Eagle along at 6.8 mpg for approximately 1500 trouble free miles.

We just returned home at 8:00 p.m. last evening from our annual holiday with Conner and Caden at Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green, KY.  Gloria and I had promised the two grandsons that they could invite a friend each for this year's excursion.  Four boys (two @ 10 yrs. and two @ 12 yrs) made for an exciting and tiring three days but, we made it and, believe it or not, enjoyed it.  I certainly hope they did!
Well, I know its boring but, the coach ran like a dream for another 500 miles.  I assume it continued the 6.8 mpg, as we've not topped off the tank yet and, the oil stick sits perfectly on the full mark.  You just gotta love that Detroit Series 60!

After reviewing my post, it reads more like a personal travel dialogue than a coach report.  But, so far that is my experience with the bus - no appreciable problems and a pleasure to use.  We've had a couple of issues, as would be expected with such a large and complicated vehicle but, certainly nothing that would cause us to regret purchasing such a wonderful travel machine!

That is great news!  I really enjoy reading the "all is going well" stories.  Indeed it is important for folks to post their bus problems and get help solving them.  That is a large part of the reason forums like this exist.  But still, it is very refreshing to hear of successful trips much enjoyed.
