Are cast valve covers better than stamped valve covers?

I can get my hands on a set of cast valve covers (free) and I wanted to know if they were better than stamped steel for some reason, other than just aesthetics. Possibly they don't leak as much?

If you are referring to valve covers for an 8V71, I believe the cast ones are different.  They are taller to provide space for the jake brakes.

Laryn, In aluminum, there is a standard cover and then one that's taller for the Jake installation. Or.....use the standard with a spacer.   (I think this is right) chuck

As mentioned, there are 2 different cast valve covers. I think the cast covers are less likely to leak because the stamped covers can be warped by overtightening. If you have a GM with a OEM tailgate, the taller (Jake Brake) cover will not allow the tailgate to close without altering the door.  Jack
