air dryer ?

I am switching my air dryer out for a standard Bendix AD-9 12 volt unit. I found a 12V lead in my side electrical panel box, by the driver compartment. Must have been for something to do with the PA system whick I have removed. What I want to do it use this feed to supply the dryer and dead end my 24V feed line below. Anyone see a problem with this??

Just make sure the circuit you want to use is rated for enough amps.  I have to imagine the heater can pull a few amps.

Why not a 24 volt AD-9 or are they much more expensive?  A local truck parts place (Catco) had the remanufactured 24 volt purge valve on the shelf when I replaced mine.  I never asked if it cost more than the 12 volt version.

A local shop happens to have a used one that is almost new and said I could have it for a bottle, doesn't come much better than that, as I got the mounting bracket and weather proof electrical plug as well. Plus if I do have problems with it, a 12V heating element is easier to get while out on the road.
