Yet here is another bus fire.  Glad our team got out safe and saved their equipment trailer.

I have not seen the news but my wife drove by it a while ago on I44 and said that it looked like the rear tires were melted off and was burnt bad around the rear axels, brake fire maybe??

the shell I'm rebuilding had a rear brake fire!..lucky it didn't get in side like that one..the driver ran with the parking brake on.  Bob.

That's the problem with having 500 horsepower!

It seems simple enough to have an interlock to prevent that from happening.

seems the interlock was a brain malfunction..there was a dash lite to show parking brake on.. I could find no other mal function mechanical that could have caused brake not to release..Bob (on the one I'M rebuilding)

Bob did your anti-lock wiring harness get burnt?

Anti lock wiring harness..was burnt from center line of rear axle only...easy repair   differential speed  sensors plugs still good will have to replace brake sensors at tag axle..lucky I guess! had to replace all of r-12 and r-14 plus anti lock air valves.  complete cost to repair all bags, bushings ,shocks,air valves,brake canisters ,and ride height contolls that were damaged was$ 1358.00 from prevost parts..all air lines control valves and wireing in front or rear axle were un damaged..air bags( two in front of rear wheels) even looked good but I replaced all.Bob

Even then, the driver would have to be really clueless to not notice the parking brake??? Although I have seen a trucker pulling empty flatbed, in the rain, with trailer brakes locked up without noticing!

Wouldn't it be almost impossible for the bus to move forward with the spring brakes applied?  My bus won't go anywhere if I forget to release the parking brakes, but I haven't tried to floor it I guess.

Busted Knuckle

I have seen DD3's only partially disengage many many times! If this Vah Hool had them then that could have easily been the problem! FWIW

Poorly adjusted rear brakes being held on by the parking circuit won't hold back today's engines.

Same old basic maintenance: Brakes adjusted?
