She was only gone for a couple weeks but it felt like much longer.  I have had all sorts of " cool toys  "  and never got attached to any of them , but this dang bus !!!!  ;D

Anyway,
She now is wearing the latest fall fashion with : New shocks & bushings , New Joints , New pinion seal, Fresh fluid in the Diff, New radius rod busings all the way around , her chassis lubed and front wheel bearings inspected.

Pulled her back into the shop and got her winterized.

Excited and wanted to share

4104s are fun!!

Be sure to check those radius rod mounting bolts after a bit of driving, especially if the nuts weren't safety wired back on.

I once had three bolts missing and a couple of nuts missing or loose. The rear axle was moving about two inches when I backed up!!

My drive shaft slip joint splines also wore completely out.

 Bill,
Might want to check and make sure the driveline got lubed and the lube went to all parts of the joint.
there are 3 zerks on the drive line, one for each  U joint and one for the spline.

Right after I bought my 04 I took it to a Bus Repair Shop in Branson Mo, ( a nice looking, very busy, very professional looking shop) and requested they put the bus on a rack, lube the bus and give it a look see. They have a lift, I changed the oil and filters here at the house and I asked them to give it an inspection/going over. They were very strict about no one on the shop floor.  I paid them 2 hours labor at $110 per hour, crawled under the bus a few weeks later and it was very obvious nothing had been greased. Not that your shop would do this but it won't hurt to check.

Gus- I'll keep my eyes on it.  She'll be back over the pit in a month or so to get the shep. steering system installed.  check it out then.

Rick - I'll check it out.  You might want to try out the bus shop here in Joplin Mo.  Tim's labor rates are aprox 72.50.  It is strickly a bus shop ( ran by the son / grandson just started working there) daddy used to be a dealer for GM buses.   They are the Trailsways Charter Service.

Sounds Good Bill!

Should let you breathe a little easier on your next outing knowing that the maintenance details have been looked after.

Long live the '04! :)

Gus:
Joplin Trailways Charter Service / Gale Webb Transportion is the bus shop.  Tim is the Son and owns/runs the biz. They are right off of I-44 on South Main. Connie answers the phone for all of the Charter service so you have to ask for Tim to schedule the work.  Thier number is 417-781 - 27 seven Nine.  Tim is normally booked up 3-4 weeks out.
