Greetings to all.  My first post.  7 year subscriber to Bus Conversions.

I have a 1978 MC-8, 8V71, HT740, 270,000 miles.  I am going to move it to the shop with a low-boy.  Before I start it, what should be on my list?  The things that sound logical to me are;

1) change engine oil/filters.
2) drain fuel system for new filters and fresh fuel.
3) remove rocker covers and bathe injectors/valves with oil, as per Dallas (Title: Scenicrusier and engine start up procedures) to observe for stuck injectors.
4) prime and start.  (CO2 extinguisher handy)

Anything else I should consider for a safe start-up?  Thank you for all of your expertise and wisdom.  Its good to be here.  Kirt

Either have a stick to reach the shut down or air it up with shop air in case something does go wrong like a oil filter blowing a gasket.
Me I would start it with the valve covers off and with a pair of vise grips on the fuel rack that way you have full control of the engine.
And if you do have stuck injectors remove the fuel lines and spray lacquer thinner in the injector to free it up then blow the thinner out, cover your eyes that stuff burns when you get it your eyes lol

good luck

If you're not starting it in the bus are you starting it on a stand? Make sure it is chained down if you plan on running it up the 8V92 is capable of tipping or flipping a stand if it's not chained down.

a solemn moment before might be in order....hope all goes well ;D ;D ;D
Sometimes the more I think about something the less I think about something.    As soon as I save a little money my bus finds out.                                      Why grab a plane when you can take the bus ?                         If I'm wrong 10% of the time how can the "Queen" be right 100%

Thanks, luvrbus.  I like it.

It will be in the bus, Rick.  I neglected to include the info that it was last started 4 years ago.

Knock that off, Steve.  I'm trying to stay positive, this week.  ;D
