Hole saws in that size get awful expensive if that is all you will use it for.  A sabre saw will work quite nicely.  The hole doesn't have to be perfect as the toilet will cover the hole.  A compass will draw a nice round line for cutting.

I used to love using hole saws.. However the bus flor enjoys them as a snack! I don't own a saber saw by I suppose it wouldn't hurt to add to the arsenal!

1/8" sheet metal - if that is steel, it's plate, not sheet metal.  Even if it's thinner gauge a sabre saw may have a tough time with it.  If it's aluminium, no problem.

Hole saw is what the pro's use, sabre saw is what the rest of us use.

A Sawzall with a good thin bimetal blade works very well.

I second the sawzall.  They are a rough (as opposed to finish) tool and with the correct blade will live up to it's name.

I don't recommend buying one unless you absolutely must, as after the destruction they are mainly useless.  To that point, I've never met a sawzall owner who wasn't happy to loan it out when not in use.

In fact if you're around SD you can borrow mine.
