MC8 Headlight Wiring ?

round bulbs do indeed have wiring roughly opposite to square bulbs.  the high beam bulbs are the same, low beam rounds are (looking at the bulb from the back,left to right) -  ground, low, high, while square bulbs are  - low, high, ground.

Diodes on the relay coils are for reverse EMI. Basically, they provide a path for the EMI that is generated when the coil is de-energized. The diode will be oriented opposite to the
normal wiring of the coil. In other words, the flow will be from negative to positive (recall that diodes allow current to flow in only one direction).  To test a diode, use an ohm
meter and test across the posts. Then reverse the leads and test in the other direction. A good diode should only test in one direction.
