Clifford,
That's a good thought. I was thinking of the garage floor tiles that interlock. I found some with a rough texture like the surface of a football. I liked it better than the diamond plate or coin design. Was planning to use it in the drivers area as well. I have noticed some of those spray on bed liner material is tough as nails. Might have to look at this idea.

Wouldn't cement board be kinda rough?  Rhino liner is kinda 'sticky' so stuff doesn't move around in the bed of truck.  Line-X isn't as resistant to movement and may be slippery when wet.

I used Durall epoxy floor coating in my basement shop.  Works great for that.  I also used it to coat the bottom of the plywood in my bus over the luggage bays and fuel tank.  The porous wood just soaked that stuff up.  It is $110 for two gallons.  I went to place locally that makes Durall and got leftover stuff for about $70 for two gallons.  I wasn't picky on the color for the back side of plywood.

The bed line actually might be a good idea for my stairs.
