I washed my engine yesterday (Thursday afternoon) started the engine and everything was fine, let it run for about 10-15

to help it dry.  Noticed the NOT GEN light was on.  Started it up around 4:30PM this afternoon and it's still on.  Did I damage

it , or is there a wire that is off or broken and secondly, how do you check and see if it is working?

Do you have a battery charger hooked to the batteries?  That can trick the regulator into shutting off the alternator, which will cause a Not Gen light.

If that's not the case, start it up and measure the voltage -- should be around 28 or so.  If it's 25 or less, then the alternator is not charging.  If it's 27 or more, the alternator is charging, and something else is causing the light to come on, possibly the air pressure switch.

Let us know which it is, and we can take it from there.
