Morse Shift Cable

I have a new 35 foot Morse transmission shift cable.  It was made for a 40 foot bus.  If I switch to an automatic transmission, I will need such a cable but probably about 5 feet shorter.  Can this one be shortened or would I be best off getting another one?  If it can be shortened, where could I get it done?
