I have read some where some bus owners have dual temp gauges for each head on the Detroit Diesel.
I have an 1963 GM PD4106 with a 8V71TA. Could some one show me in a picture where I will need to place the sending units for each head. I have an mechanical water temperature gauge at the engine. And a electric gauge at the dash.  Both my manual and electric sending units are located next to the thermostat housing. Just like DA BOOK  shows for the overheat and temp sending units. Thanks for your help

There should be a couple plugs in the thermostat housings that can be removed to install the senders for the electric gauges. We run dual gauges on our 8V71 and find that the right cylinder head is usually about 5 degrees hotter than the left. We know several other busnuts with dual gauges and this seems to be normal.  We also have a mechanical gauge in the engine compartment (in right thermostat housing) as well as an alarmstat in each thermostat housing.  Jack

I installed a manual gauge in the bed room in a compartment, that is all the longer the tube was, I don't trust the electric gauges completely. this is not for the different heads, just the over all temp. I still have the one in the dash.
