I must agree about the engine durability & toughness. The 69 Gray Marine in the bus since it's 2016 in-frame rebuild has been through a couple near catastrophic failures and even after that will take the rigors of the Alcan multiple times.
Really worse than the steep grades is the atrocious portion of bad to no surface in the last 150 or so miles in the Yukon going north.
We may leave the bus in AK and fly back & forth going forward. We hardly use it in the lower 48 since discovering AK in 2016.

After replacing the field and diodes to no avail, I turned my attention to the voltage regulator.

Turns out, finding a replacement for that voltage regulator is very difficult.

Eventually I gave up, and passed the task to Dad.

Low and behold, a few months later, he came up with one, and it solved the problem.

Problem solved.

Thank you to everyone who chimed in.

Some of the MCI's had a outlet for adding a auxiliary tank with a plate and 6 or 8 bolts and you had to pick up the tank level for space about 1 inch then it come out, if your tank is one of the few with the feed and return on back it becomes a major job

Maybe cut an access hole in the divider to look for another strap? Hate to see the floor cut.

Good luck,  Tom
