Blu and I will  be heading south Saturday morning to the International Chili Cookoff in Terlingua Texas. We would enjoy see other bus nuts if you could come. Final cookoff is on Saturday Nov. 1st. Only 700 miles or so from Tyler, but lots of fun. I'll be competing against 300 of my closest friends. Also get to enjoy the local sights. Adult beverages will be consumed and some female nudity enjoyed. come see us if you can.   Big  John and Blu.

Do you guys have the cook off in the State Park or Big Bend, I don't know for sure but heard from people in town that Carroll Shelby started that cook off back in the late 60's and that a Shelby Mustang is named after the town.I plan on being there for a day on my way back to Houston in the state park there.  have a great day and hope to meet you what type of bus do I look for mine will be a Eagle and have a friend traveling in Prevost  (non converted)with me

The cookoff for CASI will be on the ranch(private property) out side of Terlingua. There are two cookoff"s by separate associations going on at the same time. The other is called the "Behind the store" cookoff. Mostly politics is the difference. Carol Shelby and Wick Fowler started this. The mustang is named after this town.
If You get close and need directions , cell phone 903-530-4497. Just outside southern entrance to Big Bend State Park. I have  whiskey.

Big John, make it strong and hot, I understand they clens their pallete with taquila. I would love to try that some day. I do about a dozen KCBS events a year.

Hey Rod, you could come on down there and bring those fritos.  Can you imagine 300 people cooking chili within a 3 acre area?  On Wednesday night, all the ladies get together under the judging pavilion and have a Tequila Rose party, and all the men meet over at the stage area and have a "Tequila In Terlingua Society" party, better known as the TITS.  We're shameless....BUT...what happens in Terlingua stays in Terlingua!  Check us out at www.chili.org

Wow, sounds like great fun! Duhh..is the Chilie hot hot or spice hot? :) If you swallow that worm thing between chilie tastes, does that change the taste of the great chilie?  And...is it true that what goes on there....stays there?  He he he. HB of CJ :) :) :)

Not always.  When I lived in west Texas, photos of the "events" down there always made it back to town.  Ooops!   :o ;D ;D ;D

(And that was back before the days of digital and cell phone cameras.)

But while there, you enjoyed some of the best chili on Earth!  Of course some of it could be used to weld steel.  But there were many incredibly well balanced and flavorful chili recipes down there too.

Careful with the pictures, we don't want this becoming a full fledged porn site :-\ Instead, just send them to my personal mail address and I'll make sure the right people get them (he he) ;D
Sounds like a good time and good fun. Enjoy  ;D
