Title: MCI 8 bump stops
Post by: mc8 tin tent on October 20, 2008, 08:43:56 PM
Thanks for all the help info on changing the air bags, another problem found  :-X,I found both bump stop(  hard rubber bumper between coach frame and the lower air bag support assembly) left side missing ,rt. side all but missing. These look to be welded in place.Where do I go to get replacements? And do I dare take a short trip with out these? I don't want to damage the new air bags.
    Thanks
    Dwayne

Mohawk Industries states "Bump stops MUST be in place and correct height to prevent damage to the airbags"   Not sure about risk to OEM bags.  There is a single bolt (or nut, I forget which) from underneath that holds the bumper in place. Very difficult to get out. I cut a "window" in the side of the bracket the bumper attaches to for access after using a torch to remove the old stud/bolt.  I purchased replacements from International Bus & Parts in Apopka, FL.  Jack

The bumper stop are usually custom OEM parts. All non OEM auto/truck parts stores don't carry them.

Call MCI parts: http://www.mcicoach.com/Parts-Service-Support/partsStore.htm

Key#12....Part # 12-1-256 for front
Key# 7.....Part # 12-1-256 for rear
(caution...the numbers is for MCI-9 but check with them to sure it same as MCI-8)

Most all OEM parts that are custom made to OEM specification from their outside source is not available at non OEM parts stores. So the prices maybe lower than we think? ? ?

Hope they are in your price range.

FWIW

Dwayne,  The ones on my 5C had a stud on them. The whole bumper spins in. I replaced them from Mohawk. 2 broke off and had to be drilled out.  I would think the 8 is the same.  Tom Y

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but yes, that is how these things work!!!! Sometimes I think I just have a negative view on life, but no, it is the bus.  I had to put in a bolt today, simple job, 1 bolt a washer and lock washer. One hour and thirty minutes later  ???  Jim
