Well it seems a friend, competitor and shop customer has this nice '95 SETRA S215 HDH.
And it's at my shop with a locked up A/C compressor. Well it's a $4,500.00 Compressor + $900.00 for the clutch (new @ my cost! Before mark up!), and then there is labor & freon
Well After I gave him prices he said he had to decide which way to go, and he'd get back to me! (Well I know his $ is tight right now too, as he had his buses down in TX the same time we did and is waiting on the $ too!)
So after two days I called him and asked if he'd decided which way to go? He said "not yet, hadn't had time to discuss it with his wife yet. And he didn't know if he wanted to drop that kinda $ in a 13 yr old coach or just put a used one on it (which I also have) and trade it off!"
Well dumb smartellic me says "Ya know ya need to just sell it to me as is!"
I didn't expect him to say "Well let me ask the wife and call the bank, and see if they'll let you take over the payments!"
Oopps! I think I'm gonna have some explaining to do, when I get home from OH. Because mom & dad will be finding it at our shop when they get home tonight! Dang it I hate it when this happens! I really should learn to keep my big mouth shut, or discuss things with dad before I open my big mouth!
Oh well if ya hear about my funeral then things didn't go to well! And if not well maybe they'll like another SETRA in the fleet!

Just a suggestion: You keep stating to the effect in other threads that a Setra is just an "Updated Eagle". Does it have the same suspension? If so, just put a big sticker on the side that says "Trailways" and an Eagle emblem up front! ;)

Well to be honest it didn't go over too bad when dad asked about it. Seems he'd talked to Don already and Don had spilled the beans and dad was waiting to see how long it'd take me "to fess up". Dad just said "well we'll just wait and see what his bank says!" then he asked "how much does he owe on it?" Duh I dunno! "I didn't get into the minor details!"
Dad said well it might be OK, and well if we have trouble making the payment, we can just take it out of your salary!"
Uh oh now we really in big trouble! Cause I don't get a salary! I mean I do get paid, but it ain't salary. It's more like weakly, "VERY WEAKLY!"
It seems there is more of a problem with she who can go and buy a house or a van while dad is at work, and get away with it, than dad!
I got all kind of third fourth and fifth degrees this AM about "do you realize that everything your dad has worked for his whole life is tied up in this company? Do you realize that your dad is still in shock you that you would go and agree to buy a bus with out his approval? Do you realize that if the economy doesn't get better we may lose everything we have, because you just agreed to take on an unnecessary payment? Do you realize we just can't be taking risks like that? What if the bank says yes? Well I suppose if we get it then it will be your "new bus" and your dad & I will be stuck with your old one? Well seems things might just turn out OK! They haven't said I couldn't keep it yet! But they did say I have to get rid of AT LEAST 1 of the other buses! So guess what I did? I listed 3 MCI's on EBAY today! Maybe if I get rid of all 3 I can get another one too! ;D BK ;D
OH yeah I did talk it over with dad before and while listing them. So if ya call about them it won't throw him into shock like the last time someone showed up to buy a bus dad didn't know was for sale! LOL!
